- Extra or private lessons
- Help him to revise work.
What happens next in school
We will use the results from the questionnaire to help us ensure good provision for every student in Year 11 to support them to meet their potential. This will include;
- a week of close monitoring of all year 11 students to check they are on track
- allocation of a mentor for students who may be in danger of not making the grade
- extra classes in the core subjects
- outside experts coming in to work alongside our staff to help even more.
We will liaise with you when we need to make sure we are working well together to support your child.
What can you do to help?
These are some simple steps you can take to help your child:
· Make sure they have a quiet place to study at home and the equipment they need to learn
· Check their work every week giving them lots of encouragement when they do well or when they are struggling
· Encourage them to stay in school at the end of the day and use Café Chill where they can access computers if they don’t have them at home
· Encourage them to complete their school work before they go out in the evening and set time aside at weekends for studying or revising.
· Talk to them about the deadlines they have coming up and how they will manage their time. Coursework deadlines will need careful management – it is easy to fall behind
· Find out the exam boards for each subject and go to their website to find revision materials and the course specification. This will tell you what they need to do to pass the course
· Make sure they have goals for their future and know what they need to do to meet them.
· Look out for signs of stress and keep in touch with the school if you have any worries about your child
